On May 6, 2026, the National Institute for Food Control successfully organized the Workshop entitled “Strengthening Capacity and Enhancing the Quality of Vietnam Journal of Food Control” with the objective of improving the quality of the Journal and progressively advancing its international integration.
The Workshop brought together leading experts and scientists in the fields of Chemistry, Biology, Pharmacy, Food Technology, and academic publishing; members of the Editorial Board of the Vietnam Journal of Food Control (VJFC); heads and deputy heads of departments, divisions, and centers; as well as researchers currently working at the National Institute for Food Control (NIFC).

In the opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thi Hong Hao, Director General of the NIFC, emphasized the important role of VJFC in disseminating scientific knowledge and connecting research with practical applications, as well as linking technical expertise with food safety management-particularly in the field of food control and food safety, which has a direct impact on public health.

The Workshop featured a wide range of specialized presentations and practical discussions. Opening the scientific session, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Cao Son, Deputy Director of the NIFC and Editor-in-Chief of VJFC, presented a report summarizing the activities and outlining VJFC’s development orientation for the coming years. The report highlighted the necessity of comprehensive innovation in accordance with international standards to enhance the academic quality and scientific reputation.

One of the most highly anticipated presentations was delivered by Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Duc, Chairman of the Scientific and Training Council of the VNU University of Engineering and Technology and former Vice President of Vietnam National University in Hanoi, on strategies for developing VJFC to meet international standards such as Scopus and ISI indexing. His presentation provided a comprehensive overview of evaluation criteria, as well as roadmaps and solutions for enhancing the VJFC’s international integration capacity. In addition, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Duc shared valuable practical experiences from the Journal of Science: Advanced Materials and Devices and proposed important strategies for improving the quality of VJFC.

Continuing the program, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thach Tung from the Hanoi University of Pharmacy shared insights into the scientific publication process, ranging from idea development and research design to identifying funding opportunities, thereby helping researchers improve publication effectiveness. This presentation was of particular practical significance for all participants, especially young scientists.

Prof. Dr. Tran Dai Lam, Director of the Institute of Materials Science under the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, also introduced solutions for improving the quality of scientific manuscripts in the fields of chemistry and food technology, thereby contributing to enhancing the publication quality and reputation of VJFC in Vietnam. In addition, members of the VJFC Editorial Board presented guidance on manuscript submission procedures and methods for addressing common issues encountered during submission and peer review. They also shared updates on the VJFC’s policies and reviewing procedures. Following the presentations, delegates engaged in lively discussions and provided many constructive recommendations, focusing on improving peer-review quality, standardizing publication procedures, and strengthening connectivity within the scientific community.
The Workshop “Strengthening Capacity and Enhancing the Quality of the Vietnam Journal of Food Control” concluded successfully, generating numerous valuable proposals and recommendations that will serve as an important foundation for the sustainable development of the Journal in the coming years.
